Rise Against Hunger Lynchburg, formerly known as Stop Hunger Now, was founded in 2008 and serves the region spanning from Winchester, Virginia, to South Boston. In 2017, more than 10,500 local volunteers have helped build the local movement to end global hunger. In this region alone, through 2017, more than 15 million meals have been packaged to benefit 12 countries around the globe.
At QMPC, in addition to financial support, we have held 2 meal packing events as part of our worship service, several packing activities in their warehouse as a youth group activity and families have gone individually to the warehouse as well. This gives the entire congregation a hands on opportunity to be involved in a mission project within our own walls or in their warehouse that has an international impact. Some meals that have been packed locally here in Lynchburg have actually been delivered to Haiti Outreach Ministries that we work with.
